Corporate ESG Targets
An emerging ESG goal for large corporates is the aspiration to be Water Positive, which means to make more water available than they consume. Read more here.
The market for desalinated water is growing
Overall installed desalination capacity is forecast to double through next decade and 950 large projects are currently being planned worldwide. Global Water Intelligence expects seawater desalination capacity to grow by 29 million m3 per day from 2020 to 2024.
The single fastest growing market for seawater desalination over the next few years will be Saudi Arabia’s west coast, followed by other countries in the Middle East such as the United Arab Emirates and Oman. Between 2020 and 2024, desalination capital expenditure in the Persian Gulf region is expected to be USD 23,000 million. Spain and Chile are expected to be other important markets
